Whether you explore York and its historic walls  streets and snickleways or visit the iconic York Minster  Cliffords Tower and Castle Museum there is an abundance of attractions to keep you enthralled, or why not amble around  the fabulous houses  run by the National Trust such as  Nunnington Hall  and Goddards or privately owned  Castle Howard  Newby Hall or Sledmere House situated a short drive away

Take advantage of our central location and explore York and beyond through our gateway to the city coast and countryside where within an hour your journey can take you to the East Coast, Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay or Goathland, and the North York Moors &  Railway, not forgetting to pass through Helmsley and Rievaulx Abbey or Duncombe park. A trip to the West can combine the Brontes home town of Haworth,  the Royal Armouries at Leeds followed by the Museum of Photography at Bradford or Saltaire village  built by Sir Titus Salt and designated a UNESCO heritage site in 2001 or travel towards the North and explore the Lower Dales,   Studley Royal and Fountains Abbey turning through Harrogate the home of Bettys and  RHS Harlow Carr Gardens

Closer to home you can stroll around the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington situated next to  Elvington racetrack which was designated an emergency landing strip for the space shuttle and just outside the City walls a roam around the National Railway Museum will keep you fully entertained.

Finally if you prefer a local nature walk you will find Askham Bog, Skipwith Common, Fairburn Ings or Wheldrake Ings are all close by to ramble at your leisure or the transpennine trail is nearby for walkers and cyclists
