Westergate House combines the charm of an English country home with close proximity to York, offering a retreat steeped in history and modern luxury. Our unique services include exceptional dining options and opportunities for special events.

How can I travel to the city of York from Westergate House?

The City of York is conveniently located just 4 miles away. Guests can take the Arriva 415 bus from a stop just 50 yards from our gate, or use the Park and Ride service 2 miles away at the Designer Outlet.

Can I charge my electric vehicle at Westergate House?

Yes, we have an electric car charging station for your convenience.

Are children allowed to stay at Westergate House?

To maintain a peaceful atmosphere, we welcome guests aged 16 and over. However, exclusive use of the property can be arranged for family stays including children.

What events can Westergate House host?

From intimate weddings and family reunions to business retreats and team-building stays, we can accommodate a variety of events with tailored indoor and outdoor settings for 8 to 20 people.

Do you accommodate special dietary needs for meals?

Our breakfasts and other meals are freshly cooked to order. With advance notice, we can accommodate a range of dietary requirements to ensure all guests enjoy their dining experience.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in for direct bookings begins at 3:00 pm, and at 4:00 pm for third-party reservations. Check-out is a leisurely 10:30 am.

Can I bring pets to Westergate House?

In consideration of all our guests, pets are not allowed at Westergate House. This helps ensure a comfortable stay for guests with allergies and sensitivities.

Are there steps to get into the building?

Yes, there are 2 small steps to the porch and 1 step to enter the house. The ground floor has no further steps. The staircase is wide, has a bannister, and includes 16 steps leading to the first-floor bedrooms and landing.

Are the showers walk-in?

Yes, all showers are walk-in. Some do not have doors, and no showers are positioned over baths.

How big are the showers?

Showers in Rooms 1 and 6 are smaller, both with doors, measuring 800 x 800mm. Showers in Rooms 2 and 3 are larger quadrant showers with doors, and Room 3 has a standard power shower. Showers in Rooms 4 and 5 are very large, with power dual heads and no doors. There is also a freestanding bath in Room 4.

Can we drop off near the front door?

Yes, you may drop off immediately outside the front door, but please do not park or leave your vehicle unattended there, as it blocks the driveway for other guests.

Is there parking?

Yes, there is plenty of free parking for cars. Larger vehicles and trailers can also be accommodated with prior notice.

Do you have a ground floor room?

Yes, we have a twin en-suite room on the ground floor with a walk-in shower. However, the bathroom door is too narrow for wheelchair access.

Is Westergate House wheelchair accessible?

Yes, our wide entrance and doorways allow for easier wheelchair access. However, the ground floor bathroom is not wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair.

Can I book exclusive use of Westergate House?

Yes, we offer a set price for exclusive use, ideal for celebrating with family and friends for up to 15 people. Babes in arms and children are welcome during exclusive stays, but you will need to bring your own cots and high chairs. Breakfast is included, and you can also arrange an evening meal, lunch, or afternoon tea during your stay.
