What our guests are saying about us
Grand old heritage vibe
Lots of kerb appeal attracted my attention and I booked. Patrons were attentive, welcoming and so helpful; it was like home from home. Very convenient for York and Selby and their attractions. Rooms had every facility and there was a comfy sitting room for chilling out. Would definitely recommend and would book again. Thanks guys.
We have stayed here several times
We have stayed here several times and have never had any issues or problems and have had an excelllent stay each and every time. Hillary and Paul are excellent hosts and nothing is too much trouble from the second you walk through the door.We usually book to stay in the Yorkshire Pudding and Parkin room, which is lovely and has a bath and a shower. Each day freshly baked cake is left in the room and it highlights what an excellent baker Hillary is.Breakfast is varied and I am not afraid to say is the best I have ever eaten anywhere in this country or indeed Europe.Westergate is located just outside of York, but a 10 minute drive and you are at the Designer Outlet center, which is worth a visit. There is a bus stop 3 minutes walk from the B&B where buses run into the center of York every 20 minutes, with a return costing only £5 (at the time of this review). If you planning on visiting York, then I highly recommend staying at Westergate House - we are already checking out diary for our next visit.

Westergate House is truly a top pick for visiting York. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcomed by Hilary and Paul who are delightful hosts.Hilary gave us great advice for getting around during our stay. We also got our room upgrade which was a really nice touch to make us feel very welcomed in the house.(Field and Farrow Room) The room itself was spacious and felt very up to date, with a sofa area that looked out to the lawn and the fields across the view. The room had plenty of selection of teas, hot chocolate and coffee with fresh milk provided. Our room was also welcomed with some cookies which was well needed after a long drive to York.On the second day, our room was provided with delicious homemade cake for a nice afternoon treat with wonderful views of the Yorkshire countryside. The breakfast provided during our stay was amazing, with plenty of section to choose from on the menu that is cooked to order. We choose the cooked breakfast which went down a treat (there are some options that do require advanced notice but these are clearly marked on menus in both your room and in the dining room). We also had the option of fresh juices, tea or coffee to start the day.We also had the opportunity to chat with Hilary and Paul during our stay, who are both very friendly and take the opportunity to get to know you which made us feel part of the home. The touch of remembering what we ordered the next day was a little touch that we appreciated. In terms of getting to York, you would be very well connected with the option of a good bus service that stops just outside or a short drive (5mins or less) to the designer outlet for either shopping or hop on the Park & Ride to the city centre in a short journey.I would highlt recommend this place to anyone looking to stay when coming to York, and we will be sure to come back on our next visit. Thank you for the warm welcome Hilary and PaulHotel highlightsGreat view, Quiet, Great value
